In a recent article (this article), I said I stopped trying to improve my life. Instead, I started to adapt to the current stage of life.
That is a rational life, which is opposed to a spiritual life. Let’s explain it more deeply.
How to break through stagnation
Sometimes, we want to break through stagnation. In other words, we want to change.
There are two kinds of mental struggles regarding anxiety. They are as follows:
- An overly stable state: We fear change.
- Stagnation: We are in a hopeless state.
Look at the two above carefully. A change itself doesn’t hurt us. That means we are resilient to variation if we are logical. While changing, we can live focused and adapt to the new situation. On the other hand, emotions, such as fear and discouragement, torment us. In other words, spirituality causes mental struggles.

However, we sometimes don’t know how to solve these problems.
One solution would be to adapt to the situation. That will lead you to the next stage of life. Today, I will explain why.
Spirituality vs. rationality
Adapting to the situation brings you to the next stage of life. In other words, avoid acting as if you have already achieved your goal.
Rationality explains why.
Usually, when we want to change the current situation, we imagine goals and aim to achieve them. Many spiritualists teach you to have clear goals and act as if you have already accomplished them. They say that adapting to the current situation will make you stagnant.

However, that teaching is for non-logical people. It only applies when you learn and follow the path that someone else has taken. In this case, your problems already have answers. Since the predecessor has already experienced it, you can resolve it just by searching for the answer.
This approach doesn’t work for those with individuality who cannot live the same way as their surroundings.
On the other hand, those with unique natures have to live without an answer. In this case, the concept of life stages helps us. This is because we don’t know our life goals. When we don’t have ultimate goals, we can only move forward by solving our interests and problems in front of us.
That is why I prefer the concept of life stages to goals.
Proceeding to the next stage
Adapting to the situation allows us to proceed to the next stage. Although it looks like it causes stagnation, it provides us with breakthroughs.
To make it easier to understand, let’s look at an example.
Suppose we have duality. We want to be active and rest. Assume there are these two stages in life.
At our active stage, we adapt to the circumstances. Engaging in activities during the active period fulfills us.
Then, energetic activities gradually tire us. That brings us to the next stage: the relax and rest stage. Then, enough break gives us energy to act, and we proceed to the next active stage.
That tells us that we adapt to the situation, so we can proceed to the next stage. However, if we stick to being energetic when we are in a rest stage, stagnation begins.

Let’s look at another example.
Assume we want to be creative and make money. Creating something requires us to spend our money and resources. If we hesitate to make sacrifices at this stage, we naturally begin to stagnate.
The same goes for the making money stage. If we cling to creating a perfect product at this stage, there will be no more changes in our lives.
That is the meaning of adapting to the situation. From a spiritual perspective, it makes us stable. However, if we become rational, it leads us to change.
Conclusion
That is why adapting to the situation brings you to the next stage of life.
In other words, avoid acting as if you have already achieved your goal. It is a spiritual way of life.
We can apply a logical way of life.
This logic might help you to proceed to the next stage of life.
