Today, I’m going to talk about a creative lifestyle. I think that if we want a more enjoyable creative lifestyle, we can place a large work table in our living room instead of a comfortable sofa. That might give us more enjoyable and creative lives.
Creating something is fun
Regardless of whether it is real or virtual, creating something is enjoyable for me. I want to live a better life. There are many places where I can make them better. So after I created something, I always felt fulfillment.
Recently, I have come to enjoy the “real side” of life. For example, cooking, dehydrating vegetables, food preservation, handcrafting with cardboard, etc. And I’m simplifying the “virtual side,” such as using the internet now.
My large work table
By the way, I use my dining table as a work desk in the kitchen for the “real side creations.” It’s an old, large table, enough for about 4–6 people.
Then I noticed that the large table gave me a more enjoyable creative environment. The reason is simple. Thanks to the large table, I can start creating easily.
I have another desk. It’s for my PC. But large-scale handcrafting was always difficult on it because I was afraid of damaging the monitor. Moving the monitor every time is troublesome because I use the monitor frequently.
So I found that a large work table made us more creative.
A work table doesn’t need beauty
This is related to the previous post, I think that a work table doesn’t need to be beautiful and new. Because it’s easily damaged when we use it to create something. So, as long as it has enough size and stability, I think that’s enough.
Even if it has many scratches, I think that it will still look lovely. Because we can understand that it has been used a lot. A work table is one of the tools. Tools with many scratches are proof that they were used for a long time. I can say that it’s like the charm of antique furniture.
So I think that a work table doesn’t need to be beautiful and new. I know a creator who made his work table to fit his height from wood materials. I think that’s also creative work because we can make the best and original tools just for us, affordably.
A small living room is also good
If we have a large work table in our living room, we may not be able to have ample space. We may have to give up on placing a comfortable sofa.
But I also think that a small living room is good. Because we can enjoy it more even if it is.
During the daytime, we can enjoy creating at the work table. Even if we invite friends to our house to have a party, we can dress up. For example, if we put a tablecloth on the table, nobody will notice the scratches on the table.
How to enjoy a small place at night
And during the night, we can enjoy a small living space. We usually want to relax at night and don’t need to be active.
I think that a small space and some candlelight will work well at such a time. Candlelight relaxes us and hides daily boring things. And if we put some seasonal flowers or decorations near the candle, we would easily feel the seasonal changes deeply.
In contrast, if we have a large, bright room, it would be hard to decorate. And difficult to feel seasonal changes.
Small living spaces have such goodness. I had such a good time last summer and autumn. I stopped watching any monitor at night. And I sat by the window where there was no light, then looked at the night sky and scenery. That was a great experience. Due to the cold, I stopped it for the winter. But I’m going to begin it again next spring.
Conclusion
So I think that if we want a more enjoyable creative lifestyle, we can place a large work table in our living room instead of a comfortable sofa.
We can still have fun even if we don’t have a gorgeous living room. We can create it according to the environment and characteristics.
If we understand this, we might have more enjoyable and creative lives.
