Switching Our Mental Duality: A Way to Break Through Stagnation

Now I am focusing on the concept of mental duality. It teaches us an inner behavior that we can understand more easily. Today, I will talk about how to break through our stagnant situations.

How to break through stagnation

Sometimes, we want to break through stagnation. Although we have done our best to accomplish our goals, we sometimes see neither results nor fulfillment. That often makes us impatient and exhausted.

In such a situation, knowing about our mental duality could help us. It tells us how to achieve and progress comfortably.

It prevents stagnation because we can try another approach, even if one doesn’t work.

For example, if we are empathic and creative, we have two senses: empathy and logic. If we reach the limit of changing reality in logical ways, we can satisfy ourselves by focusing on emotions or imagination. They will tell us what to be grateful for. On the other hand, when we feel the limit of our imagination, we can change reality with our logical sense.

We have at least two aspects of values like them. They are contradictory but complementary. They allow us to break through our stagnation.

However, we sometimes confuse achievement with satisfying ourselves.

Today, I will explain a way of thinking to live with our mental duality. That might allow us to proceed with improving our lives.

Two ways of living: achievement or proceeding comfortably

There are two ways of living, as follows:

  • A way of life that prioritizes achievement: This way of life is for people who have less individuality and can live in society. Goals to achieve are things that we already know about their value in society. Achievement requires patience. It means it won’t fulfill us completely, although it fills one aspect. We don’t need mental duality in this case.
  • A way of life that prioritizes progressing comfortably: This way of life is for people who have individuality and want to be away from society. Those goals are hard to evaluate socially. We can do what the social majority cannot do. In this case, caring about our mental duality allows us to break through difficulties.

If we are in the minority in personality, perhaps we tend to suit the latter. There are things that the majority cannot do, but we can do them with ease. That often brings unexpected contributions to society.

Seclusion in the countryside and investment are examples. They are worthless or hard lifestyles for the majority. However, on the other hand, we could find something valuable that the majority overlook. We could do it naturally without suffering.

That would also be a way of life for the minority in personality.

Proceeding comfortably rather than achievements

It is a way of life that pursues our comfort lives rather than achievement because a lifestyle others cannot imitate gives us new possibilities.

In a place apart from society, there is often a new value that the social majority doesn’t know or cannot access.

Investing is a good example. Sometimes, the social majority evaluates new trends or technologies and underestimates traditional food or energy in a stable period. Sometimes, the opposite happens in a turbulent era. That allows us to buy cheap and sell high.

Being away from society allows us to find underestimated values. In other words, pursuing a comfortable lifestyle gives us those opportunities. That makes our investments successful.

We often cannot foresee what will be valuable in advance because it depends on the social situation. That is not a goal to achieve. A unique and comfortable life gives us opportunities.

When to switch our mental duality

It is a lifestyle in which we focus on switching our mental duality rather than how to do it well. The methodology doesn’t matter because comforts rather than methodology give us possibilities. We can move in a more comfortable direction by switching our mental duality.

We can switch our mental duality with the following two triggers if we have empathy and logical sense:

  • When we feel empathic negativity—negative emotion or imagination.
  • When we have logical negativity—negative logic or inefficiency.

We focus on negativity rather than positivity. Positivity is a way to achieve. That usually suppresses negative thoughts. On the other hand, caring for negativity is a way to secure comfort. That allows us to handle and switch our empathy and logical sense depending on the situation.

Switching our duality

One of the symbolic times to switch our duality is a situation that makes us want to scratch our heads and cry. When our heads are messy with no answers, we want to do so. That is the time to switch our duality.

If we have been thinking logically until then, we switch to judging by our emotions. If we have decided through empathy and reached the limit, we try to think logically. That gives us another approach to breaking through.

Both don’t reach their limits at the same time, as long as we head in a comfortable direction. In other words, we get stuck when we are going in the wrong direction.

If we are empathic and creative, independence would be a direction. We will be able to proceed in that direction without patience.

We can focus on switching our mental duality rather than how to do it well.

That might allow us to proceed with improving our lives.
