Accepting Social Duality: Explaining Why That Frees Us From an Inferiority Complex

In these weeks, I have talked about our mental duality. It seems I explained most of what I wanted to say. Today, I will wrap up this topic by introducing the concept of social duality.

How to let go of an inferiority complex

Sometimes, we want to be free from an inferiority complex. It often drives us to compete with others but never fulfills our hearts. It forces us to put up with something and sacrifice one aspect of our values to achieve the goal.

Although it brings us excitement, it also exhausts us. No matter how our accomplishments excite us, we cannot find peace or satisfaction in life. We often find that such a repetitive life is nonsense. We don’t want to end our lives with that.

That makes us want to live peacefully while fulfilling our hearts. We know we have different natures from others. We don’t care about social victories or the same way of living as others. We want our happiness. That is why we choose our lives.

Being away from society to solve an inferiority complex

Staying away from society could be one way because our relationship with society causes an inferiority complex. It is not a mental problem. If we are in a society whose values don’t value our natures, we will have an inferiority complex and suffer.

In other words, if we can let go of our obsession with social contribution, we can keep a distance from society and let go of our inferiority complex.

However, we sometimes don’t know how to do it.

The concept of social duality could help us. Today, I will introduce it. That might allow us to let go of our inferiority complex and choose a comfortable life.

What is social duality?

Social duality is the concept that our society and others also have mental duality. It is the same as our mental duality. Society and others have at least two aspects, like us.

That tells us we don’t have to force ourselves to contribute to society.

Let me explain why.

An explanation of mental duality

Mental duality is the concept that we have two approaches to creating our lives, as follows:

  • A way of life that prioritizes achievement: Although it won’t fulfill us completely, we can easily provide value to society. We can secure social resources at the cost of sacrificing our fulfillment. People with less individuality can do this more comfortably.
  • A way of life that prioritizes progressing comfortably: Although it tends to be hard to provide value to society, we can proceed while caring about our mental duality and fulfilling ourselves. The social minority with individuality can do this more comfortably.

If we are highly empathic and creative, the latter would suit us. In that case, we seek a comfortable way of life based on our two senses: empathy and logic. Switching them appropriately based on our mental condition allows us to break through the stagnation and continue to move forward in the direction of independence, which would be our ideal lifestyle.

In that case, we don’t force one sense we cannot use well. For example, if we feel negative about empathy, we stop using it and start trying to think logically. We just let empathy rest. We don’t force our empathy to be logical.

Although we stop using empathy temporarily, we know it is necessary. We know we can use it again when the time comes.

The similarity between social duality and our mental duality

Our individuality is the same. Our strange personalities are one aspect of society. It is natural to have times when we cannot contribute well to society.

Imagine that society has two aspects of values. One is extroverts. They become active during the stable period. The other is empathic and creative people. They become active during a turbulent era. Society uses them efficiently based on its situation.

We know we are necessary, even if society stops evaluating our strange personalities during a stable period. There are times when we cannot perform our personalities. It is natural.

That allows us to keep a distance from society and prepare for the confused era. We can live peacefully and frugally in the countryside.

Removing our attachment to society

Accepting social duality allows us to remove our attachment to society.

If we understand that society has at least two aspects, we stop judging what is good or bad and start to think about what lifestyle fits the situation.

There is no good or bad for people in society because they also have at least two aspects. Society can solve its problems by changing its values based on each situation.

That understanding allows us to let go of our obsession with social contribution. We don’t have to force ourselves to make others happy when we cannot do it easily.

In such a situation, we can rest and live peacefully without disturbing society. Perhaps seclusion in the countryside is one way of living.

Applying duality to others

Applying the duality to others is the same. That allows us to find their other aspects and stop trying to control them.

We understand that others show only one side of their values, no matter how simple they look. It means that they can show their other aspects when the situation changes. We don’t know if they will get better or worse as the situation changes. It depends on their switching aspects.

Perhaps that is why people without an inferiority complex have less admiration and hatred. They know all people and society have duality. They know there is no such thing as a perfect good or bad person.

On the other hand, people with an inferiority complex tend to admire a person with an outstanding aspect. At the same time, they hate a person on the other side. Admiration and hate are two sides of the same coin. Ignoring mental duality causes them.

Conclusion

That is the concept of social duality.

Society and others also have mental duality.

That concept might allow us to let go of our inferiority complex and choose a comfortable life.
