I Will Help My Brother’s Pastry Shop for a Little While Longer (but Without a Salary)

As the title suggests, I will help my brother at his pastry shop a little longer on weekend days.

The journey to discover my talent

Originally, my help was until mid-March. However, the baking experience was enjoyable overall. Since I wanted to create something tangible, I decided to continue to help him a bit longer. It would be until before summer, when pastry shops are the least busy of the year.

One of my tasks last weekend: finishing the brandy cake. The above is a castella sponge.

I don’t intend to become a pastry chef or a manager at all. Even if rationality broadened my potential, being them seems unsuited to my personality; still, I cannot verbalize the reason well.

However, something is exciting. I feel like I can learn something that progresses my life from there.

Soaking the castella in brandy. If we soak it too much, the castella will break, so it requires quickness.

One of my desires is to discover what my talents are and how to use them. Although empathy and logical sense are my strengths, I want more concrete application examples. I feel like I can obtain that hint by helping someone in need.

Conclusion

Anyway, I will go to my brother’s shop today as well.

Every weekend, the articles would be shorter. Regarding my new mental model, let’s talk about it next week.

Thank you for reading this article. I hope to see you in the next one.

Naturally, my reward was the edges of the castella. Although they were tasty, they were a little too plain. I want to add another flavor, like nuts, cream, chocolate, or brandy syrup.
