Recently, I solved my mental confusion. That showed me the unreasonable behaviors of people with an inferiority complex. Let’s talk about one example.
How to identify our unreasonableness
Sometimes, we want to realize our unreasonable behaviors. Although we feel we are making consistent judgments on our own, we can be irrational, especially when we have mental confusion.
One typical example is being unable to do things without someone’s permission. Even when we can decide for ourselves, we often seek a valid reason to persuade others.

For example, when we take a break from blogging and commenting on social media, we sometimes try to make a convincing excuse and make an announcement. Although they are hobbies, we sometimes cannot honestly say that we want to take a break just for pleasure.
Recognizing such unreasonableness develops rationality. That helps us resolve mental confusion.
Today, I will explain why we need to decide for ourselves. This perspective may reduce your mental confusion.
My brother’s case
When you want to be freed from mental confusion, decide to do things without seeking anyone else’s permission.
Mental confusion makes you lose sight of what is important.
To make it easier to understand, let’s look at my brother’s case.

When I helped him at his pastry shop last month, I noticed his several inexplicable behaviors. One of them was his claim to be unhealthy. He often mentioned his poor physical condition, such as weakened muscles, wearing a back brace for his lower back pain, having a stiff body, and not eating proper meals.
Rationally speaking, those claims are pointless. He managed his shop. If he needed a break, he should take one. He has that discretion. If his day off caused operational problems at his shop, it was necessary to modify the workload or business process. That was also his job. He didn’t need to show his unhealthiness to others repeatedly.
In other words, he treated the thing he could do freely as if he could not. He was seeking permission for others, including me, to take a break. It was natural that he could not reduce the burden.
Simple solutions
The absence of consistent logic caused his confusion.
For example, suppose there were two contradictory elements: health and job. He lacked a coherent understanding of the significance of those elements.

People with consistent logic can solve problems reasonably, as follows:
- For those who value their family, work is for the sake of their family’s health. They can change a job or reduce the workload.
- For those who prioritize work, they don’t need to maintain a family themselves. They can rely on relatives or social aids for the health of their children and family.
Either way, there is a direction to proceed. Although there is not always an ideal environment and solution, we can decide reasonably. We don’t need to claim our unhealthiness. We can only use that claim when criticizing administrators or leaders.
Freeing from the restrictions
Confusion about values causes us to lose such consistency. Imagine a person who thinks everything is the most important. Naturally, they can create nothing.
In my brother’s case, his desire to succeed in his business prevented him from reducing his workload. That harmed his wife’s health. His desire to protect his family stopped him from asking relatives for help in caring for them. Those factors made my advice pointless, no matter what I said to him.
In other words, he must sort out his mental confusion for himself. That is why other people’s direct advice doesn’t work for mental complexity.

Rationality can solve it easily. Rationality makes those who are grounded in reality look cool, while those who are pretending appear miserable. It teaches us that there is no need to stick to one side. Since we have duality and are contradictory, we can take both solutions simultaneously.
In my brother’s case, rationality will tell him that he can reduce his workload and rely on relatives to take care of his family simultaneously. Both don’t mean failure. They are reasonable options according to the situation.
After securing the necessary resources to change, he can reshape his life and business based on his philosophy. In that process, I will never look down on him. That is a cool and exciting thing. I will willingly help him. That is reality.
I had also been practicing that process since last year. I stopped pretending to be strong and started as a beginner. That freed me from the constraints I had had and allowed me to reconstruct my life.
Conclusion
That is how mental confusion makes you lose sight of what is important.
Rationality enables us to decide to do things without anyone’s permission.
This perspective may reduce your mental confusion.
