Since I am moving to a new home, I wrote this article a week ago and scheduled it. I am probably already in a new home. I am going to settle down as soon as possible.
Today, I will talk about items that I chose to live lightly.
How to live lightly
Sometimes, we want a life of lightness. It allows us to change our ways of life easily. That makes us stress-free and more free, even if we live independently.
However, we sometimes don’t know how to realize it. That makes us choose something heavy and gorgeous, making it harder to move forward.
These weeks, I have been in such a situation. To move to a new place, I had to manage my belongings and dispose of many heavy items, even if they were expensive. Although I felt heavy-hearted about discarding luxurious things, the lighter I got, the more energetic I became.
Now, I am with affordable and light things. I am fulfilled with this fresh state.
Today, I will introduce my ideas for living lightly. This knowledge might help you make a lightweight, energetic, and creative life.
The requirements for lightweight items
When we want to live freely, affordable and lightweight items can make us joyful rather than luxurious things because they allow us to change our way of life more easily.
The requirements of things for such a life are as follows:
- Inexpensiveness
- Durability
- Low running cost (simple structure but versatile)
- Moderately small
- Easy to throw away
We prioritize functionality. If we want the decorations, we can add ourselves later.
For example, in my current opinion, the most efficient organizers are cardboard and freezer bags. We can make shelves with cardboard. We can pack small items in freezer bags. They are inexpensive, durable, easy to replace, easy to choose moderate size, and easy to throw away.
I particularly like freezer bags because they don’t create wasted space. If the bag is easy to open, we can take things out quickly. In addition, it is resistant to water. We can carry many items with it.
Of course, I used them a lot to move to a new home this time.
The things I had disposed of
I discarded many things these days. I changed my lifestyle as follows:
- I disposed of my two-burner induction cooktop. I replaced it with a single burner. I only eat meat or fish soups for my liver’s health. A single burner is enough to cook.
- I disposed of my kitchen dish drainer. I live alone and only eat soups, so I don’t have to wash many dishes.
- I disposed of my large and heavy desk. I replaced it with a middle-size one. If I can iron my clothes, it is enough. Since the next home to live in is an apartment, I will not do extensive carpentry.
- I disposed of glassware and ceramic dishes that could break. I replaced them with plastic (PET) dishes that are hard to break. Recent improved PET dishes are amazing. They are inexpensive but have moderate weight and thickness, like ceramic dishes. They don’t feel cheap. I only have three dishes now: a small bowl, a plate, and a large bowl.
- I disposed of wooden boxes. Although they were durable and easy to throw away, I decided to create new cardboard boxes.
If we want designs or decorations, we can add them with our beauty sense. That would be a part of creativity.
Conclusion
They are my ideas to be lightweight.
The more lightweight we are, the easier we can change our lives.
This knowledge might help you make a lightweight, energetic, and creative life.
