In three days, I will depart for my previous apartment to ship my belongings to my current home. I have to change my lifestyle and adapt to a life of moving. Adapting to changes always requires physical and mental strength.
That made me think of why we always feel our life is painful. Let’s talk about it.
Why our lives are painful
Sometimes, we want to know why our lives are full of suffering.
For example, in Buddhism, there is a fundamental concept of ‘everything in life is suffering.’ It tells us that every event is painful. However, if we can recognize the fact, we can feel better.

It seems contradictory, but I was able to empathize with the part where life is filled with suffering.
I have recently been able to explain why we feel that way. It was a rational teaching aimed at empathic and logical individuals seeking relaxation. Today, I will explain the logic.
The body and the conscious
Everything is suffering in our lives, but we can be at ease if we are aware of the fact.
If we look at ourselves as consciousness, we can understand the meaning easily.

We are the conscious part of the body. Although we think we own our bodies and control them, it is a misunderstanding. We cannot directly operate the body. We have to ask the subconscious to move the body. We are just interacting with the subconscious, not directly with the body.
For example, we cannot consciously stop our heartbeat. Even if we hold our breath, when it becomes difficult, the unbearable force—the work of the subconscious—makes us breathe. They show us we are not moving our bodies.
The role of consciousness
The role of consciousness is logical thinking and making decisions. We are just asking the subconscious to follow our conscious orders.
If there is no need for a decision, we can live with an empty mind. Although it is an easy life, it is the same as insects that move solely by instinct. Without logical thinking and decisions, we cannot live a sophisticated life. We play an important role in keeping the body alive.
Consciousness is activated by the subconscious when a rational decision is needed. It means that we are aware of ourselves only when we have to think and determine.

Logical thinking requires energy. Although we want a perfect conclusion, we cannot escape from unknown elements.
In other words, there are always worries and inner conflicts.
That is why our lives are always painful.
Making our lives easier
That awareness allows us to be at ease. This is because we can accept the pain of making decisions and focus on judgment. It is the duty of consciousness.
In addition, it prevents perfection. We understand that we must determine even without certainty. That awareness forgives us for making mistakes.

If we understand the role, we can decide things right away in moderation. That reduces our mental burden and allows us to live more empty-minded.
In other words, avoiding decisions causes our mental problems and exhaustion, such as relying on emotions, continuing to worry, pursuing perfection, and confusion about values.
Conclusion
That is why we always feel our life is painful.
If we understand that our role as consciousness is making decisions, we can execute it right away.
That reduces our mental burden.
This logic might help you to live more comfortably.
