The 3-Category Organization for Creative Travel or Emergency Packing

Today, I’m going to talk about an organization method. I think that the 3-category organization could be useful for creative travel or emergency packing.

The organization method for creators

Recently, I’ve enjoyed improving my everyday life. One of them is organizing the things we have. I noticed that organization helps us understand what is important in our lives. That reduces the confusion in our lives. So I’ve come to feel more light and free these days.

By the way, I proposed a new organizing method, called the “3-category organization method,” several weeks ago. (In this article.) And I noticed that we can apply this method to our travel or emergency packing.

So today, I’m going to introduce such an improved organization method in this article.

Moving or emergency packing for creators

Sometimes, we need to pack our things to move to other places. For example, when we prepare for traveling, moving, or sometimes emergencies. Even if it’s everyday life, organized environments give us clarity and creativity.

At such times, we are often confused about what is necessary. We feel everything is important. But we cannot carry or hold everything. And we have to pay to keep these unnecessary things running—not only money but also time, place, or motivation.

In these cases, my “3-category organization method” might work well. This is the organizing method for creators. If we follow this method, we might be able to reduce our costs and increase the value of our products more easily. And we might also be able to have more relaxation and less anxiety.

The overview of the 3-category organization method

So, let’s look at the “3-category organization method.” The rule is simple. We categorize our belongings into 3 groups: (1) Basic tools, (2) Consumings, and (3) Stocks.

  1. Basic tools are the tools we usually use. We organize this to make profits or create value. The more integrated and simplified, the better.
  2. Consumings are the things we are currently consuming or using. These are rarely used tools or short-term stocks. These are in the middle of (1) and (3).
  3. Stocks are consumable items that can be kept for the long term. Not only materials but also money and some backup energy sources belong here. We organize this to avoid losses or disgusting events. We store critical materials first.

The basic packing tactics

The basic packing tactics are the following:

  • When moving, we carry all of the (1) Basic tools.
  • And with the remaining capacity, we carry (3) Stocks as much as possible.
  • We throw away all of (2) Consumings. We don’t carry them.

The treatment of (1) Basic tools

First, when moving, we carry all of the (1) Basic tools. We create every day’s fulfillment with these tools. After we arrive at the new living place, we get or buy new materials there again. Integrated and simplified tools make us easy to master while lowering costs, even if we have to learn new environments.

For example, regarding food, if we travel to another place, we can cook every meal instead of eating in a restaurant. We can get the necessary ingredients at the local grocery stores. And cook meals with the (1) Basic tools.

The treatment of (3) Stocks

Next, when moving, we carry the (3) Stocks as much as possible with the remaining capacity. Because there could be some critical materials that are hard to get. If we cannot get the critical materials, we cannot make anything, even if we have perfect (1). So we carry some of the (3) stocks with the (1) at the same time. We prioritize more critical and long-term materials.

For example, if we had a disaster, it would be hard to get any food at the grocery stores. At such a time, we require some of the (3) stocks to make some food. Maybe we need more basic things, such as salt, sugar, or wheat, during such a disaster.

The treatment of (2) Consumings

Finally, when we move, we throw away all of the (2) Consumings. These are important in everyday life, but these are the most unnecessary things when moving. For example, opened ketchup is unnecessary to carry when moving.

Packing tactics

So if we organized them regularly, we could easily clarify what is important in our lives. At such a time, the following placement tactics would work:

  • Put the same category’s items together as much as possible.
  • Put other categories’ items separately, as far apart as possible.

By the way, if we prepare for an emergency, I think that it is preferable to keep a portion of the (3) stocks and the (1) Basic tools in the same backpack. Because both are necessary. As I mentioned above, tools without materials are meaningless. For example, I put some food and water in my emergency backpack along with any survival tools.

In addition, we can prepare other bags that store more of (3) stocks. Because in an emergency or disaster situation, it’s difficult to obtain, but it’s easy to discard.

This organizing method can be applied not only for emergencies but also for changing our lives in the future. Because “changes” means “getting out of the usual.”

Conclusion

So I think that the 3-category organization could be useful for creative travel or emergency packing. This method is useful for creators because we could be able to change our lives easily.

This organizing method would tell us what is important. In other words, there are 3 kinds of “important things” for creators. That is, (1) Basic tools, (2) Consumings, and (3) Stocks.

If we follow this method, we might be able to reduce our costs and increase the value of our products more easily. And we might also be able to have more relaxation and less anxiety.
