The year 2026 has begun. At the beginning of the year 2026, let’s make predictions for this year.
My 2026 predictions
My predictions are as follows:
- The stock market collapse is not expected to occur this year. It might be in 2027 or later. However, it is already time to withdraw from the stock market.
- Although a recession is unlikely to occur this year, social conflicts are likely to deepen, and unexpected events will continue to happen.
- Inflation, which means rising prices, will accelerate worldwide.
I cannot guarantee whether they will be correct.

(By the way, if we predict that the unexpected will happen, the prediction will always become correct. Logically speaking, it doesn’t make sense, but it is effective for those who go against the masses.)
My measures
My current measures are as follows:
- Prepare for the next recession: prioritize local connections over global ones.
An economic boom means that people choose cooperation and dependence, while a recession is the term for when they prioritize independence and disconnection. Both are necessary in the economy. Those processes balance individuality and collaboration.
During a recession, those individuals or regions that can live independently become stronger. That is why independence matters in this period.

However, we cannot live completely independently. We have to depend on something essential, such as food, water, a house, the environment, business, and money, more or less.
To establish our independence, we rely on affordable local resources. That will be one reasonable option during a recession.
In my case, I am considering reducing my dependence on the internet and AI. I will search more local resources and connections. That is my direction for this year.
Conclusion
Anyway, let’s survive and enjoy this year, 2026.
If we are empathic and logical, we sometimes enjoy surviving freely rather than enduring in pursuit of social status. Letting go of our want for status may enable us to live more efficiently.
Thank you for reading this article. I hope to see you in the next one.
