I helped my brother at his pastry shop for the past two days. Although it was physically challenging, it was a refreshing experience. Helping someone often shows us the fundamental issues people tend to have and the opportunities we can gain.
That made me consider an effective way for individuals to make money now. Let’s talk about it.
I experienced baking pastries
Physical work is already rewarding and will become more effective soon for creative people. It may provide us with sufficient profits even as individuals. That was my impression of these two days.
One of my brothers is a patissier and manages a pastry shop. Since he has an extroverted personality, he is good at socializing. When I was a little child, he often took care of me.
On the first day I went to help, I realized how severe the staff shortage was. Although I had heard about a shortage of manual labor workers in the news, directly experiencing it surprised me.
For someone like me, who was used to a competitive field and had always struggled to build a customer base, it was an unfamiliar situation. Many customers come, and the cakes they made sell quickly. Those pastries are not affordable; they are rather expensive. The more they bake, the more their cakes sell. It would be a fantastic environment for business managers.
Their predicaments
However, hardly anyone wanted to work in such a field. Too many customers exhausted them. Due to the enormous and endless tasks, workers, including my brother, inevitably had to cope with excessive workloads. It is scary to hire many employees and modify product prices frequently in this uncertain future.
In addition, for less logical people, they often struggle to modify the business process and framework. They cannot reduce the product lineup soon. That exhausted them.
It was natural for elderly business owners to consider quitting their businesses.
Our opportunities
It means that even individuals can generate income in such fields more easily.
For example, we may not even need to have our own store. Such stores don’t have enough items to line up, even if they would sell. Even supplying several specific products to those shops could help both them and us.
In the case of my brother’s shop, they struggled even with securing the time to bake enough cookies, which are supposed to be easy to cook. I made mainly cookie dough on the second day.
Having customers is rewarding. We can increase sales based on our creativity. It is much easier than the effort of trying to make a new customer base.
Being creative doesn’t mean belonging to innovative fields. Physically demanding work can also be entertaining if we can show our creativity.
In my opinion, it may currently be more effective for us to show our creativity in physical labor industries that are facing a labor shortage.
Conclusion
Anyway, it would be enjoyable to experience an industry facing a labor shortage.
That might show you where to demonstrate your logical sense and creativity.
By the way, fortunately, I was able to eat a few pieces of defective cakes, such as burnt or crumbled ones. That was a fantastic reward.
However, unfortunately, there was no salary. I worked for two days for a few cakes!
Helping others and being appreciated make me happy, so it was not bad for me. Baking pastries is also entertaining for me now. I will probably go to his shop and learn baking again.
