Why Relaxation and Logical Power Go Together: An Example of a Door

Recently, I have finally learned how to relax rationally. It differs from empathic ways. Let’s talk about it.

Is relaxation compatible with being rational?

Sometimes, we want a peaceful mind, especially when daily stress exhausts us. Anxiety about the future and remembering past pains hinder being at ease.

Even if we use relaxation tools, such as aromatherapy, baths, herbal teas, and music, they will not last long.

One effective solution I found recently is cultivating logical sense. Rational judgment stops emotions and allows us to calm down. I have explained the logic for these months.

However, some might wonder if relaxation can be compatible with being rational. Being at ease is a state of not concentrating on something. On the other hand, rationality requires a focus on consciousness. We cannot relax when we focus on our minds.

Although they look contradictory, they can go together. Today, I will explain why. This logic might allow you to relax more easily.

Why relaxation goes together with rationality

The reason is simple. Stopping the loop of thought makes us relax.

In other words, we don’t have to be conscious to relax. Once we rationally break the negative emotional loop of thinking, we can be at ease without focusing on consciousness afterwards.

In my case, one of my brothers is wealthy. Compared to him, I am inferior, so knowing his gorgeous lifestyle makes me feel envy toward him and disappointment in myself. It means that I experience negative emotions at least once.

However, I can stop the continuous worrying thanks to my philosophy.

I consciously think, “Rationally speaking, it is pointless to continue to struggle with the differences. There are all sorts of differences. Is it reasonable to compare them all and get depressed? No, it is not worth the effort. Improving something specific for me is much more beneficial in my life.”

That ends the continuous worry and reduces 98% of the total mental exhaustion.

A metaphor of a door

It is like a door. Suppose we have a relaxation room in our mind. If we enter the room, we can calm down.

However, there is a door. There are two ways to open it, as follows:

  • The empathic way is to have peaceful feelings that ease the body’s stress, such as aromatherapy, baths, herbal teas, imagination, scenery, and music. This way opens the door easily, but it is also easy to be kicked out of the room when we have negative emotions.
  • The logical way is to decide how to treat the body’s stress based on rationality. It includes the decision to stop thinking any further. This way requires a certain level of philosophy to open the door. However, we are not easily thrown out of the room.

The empathic way is easy to open the door of relaxation but also easy to be shut out.

On the other hand, the logical way requires a certain level of philosophy, which consists of several principles on living well. However, if we obtain enough muscle, we can stay steadily in the relaxation room.

Conclusion

That is why relaxation can be compatible with being rational.

Stopping the loop of thought makes us relax and reduces 98% of the total mental exhaustion.

This logic might allow you to relax more easily.
