Recently, I started sewing as a hobby. Since I have to organize my belongings due to my limited storage area, I am now enjoying making bags.
These days, I have started creating a new bag. This is my third bag. Let’s talk about it.
Making my third bag
This time, I am trying to make a bigger one so that I can put my clothes in it.
The material is not old pants but sewing fabric, like the following image. This is because I cannot secure a large piece of cloth with old clothes, like jeans. It means I don’t have to unsew old clothes! To be honest, untying clothes was tiring.

However, there are pros and cons to using sewing fabric. Perhaps you can predict them.
- Using old clothes: We can use these pockets, but we can only get small pieces of cloth.
- Using sewing fabrics: We can create larger items freely, but we have to make everything by ourselves, even pockets.
I am now learning how to sew pockets.
Avoiding being picky about creation
If we have logical sense, we might find enjoyment in a variety of rational designs. We may not need to be picky about what we create as long as it is rational.
In my case, I recently started sewing. Although I didn’t have an interest in it, I discovered that there are always logical reasons behind each step in the process of creating bags. They interested me gradually.

For example, we have to design appropriately according to the purpose. Many factors determine functionality. Examples are the size and material of the bag, the handle length, and the location of pockets. A backpack allows us to use both hands, but it takes time to take out the contents. On the other hand, a small handbag is easy to take items out of, but it is troublesome to carry over long distances.
Even if it were singing instead of sewing, I would have enjoyed the logic behind it. Perhaps it doesn’t matter what we do, as long as it is logical.
The next stage of minimalism
I recently realized that I graduated from the stage of minimalism and entered the managing stage. Making bags taught me that.
Although I created bags to solve my severe storage problem, I noticed that they allowed me to manage more things efficiently. Increasing things without stress gave me opportunities.
Bags are a kind of management tool. Those with management skills can handle many things with little effort. For example, administrators are paid more than manual laborers. Management ability is precious and reduces the necessity of our efforts. It is an acquired skill based on logical sense.

Minimalism is not the only way to make our lives easier. It is only the first step to make life easier for those whose logical sense has not yet developed. Management ability can also reduce our stress.
It would apply to other logical activities. Many logical creations require management skills to utilize various resources. Developed creations require more resources. It is the opposite of minimalism, but it also enriches us without stress.
We can graduate from minimalism. The more we cultivate our logical sense, the more abundant we can become.
Conclusion
Anyway, I have started to make a new bag.
Now I am enjoying a new stage of life.
