Recently, I’ve lived based on rationality. Although I have not mastered it enough yet, trial and error is interesting.
Logical reasoning eliminates unnecessary emotions. That took a load off my mind. Guilt was one of them. Let’s talk about it.
How to act without hesitation
Sometimes, we want to act without hesitation. Being concerned about our surroundings often makes it difficult to improve our lives, especially if we desire to migrate to another environment.
One example is the feeling of guilt. We don’t wish to cause trouble for anyone. That hinders our change.

However, we often cannot free ourselves from such an emotion.
In such a case, rationality would help you. It eliminates unnecessary emotions and allows you to take action. Today, I will introduce one of my recent experiences. This story might encourage your improvement.
My guilt about food waste
Rationality removes unnecessary emotions. It tells us that if you learn, you can cause trouble for others and dispose of unnecessary things that still have value. We call this process cutting losses. In the long run, that is more effective. That frees us from guilt.
For example, I was guilty about wasting food. That made me manage my food to eliminate waste thoroughly. However, it also restricted me from changing my eating habits.
At that time, I decided to stay at my parents’ home temporarily. Probably it will be a few weeks. I needed to finish the food in the refrigerator.

As the refrigerator became empty, I strangely started to feel better. That enabled me to throw away the old fermented food. I also discarded the homemade dressing that I no longer used. They are still edible, but they were things I didn’t need.
I realized that I have always wanted a reason to dispose of them. I didn’t like them. If I wait until they spoil, I will have a legitimate reason to discard them without guilt. In other words, I wanted an excuse. It was a lie to myself.
Pain of failure and my change
That realization changed me. Waiting that long is unreasonable. I was wrong. I needed to acknowledge that making them was a failure.
That awareness freed me from guilt. Learning means accepting my failure. In other words, I let go of some of my values and got new ones.
Thankfully, rationality also reduced the pain of failure.

After the change, I decided to dispose of the food in the freezer. They can be stored for a long time, but they are a burden for me now. I realized that I had wanted to change for a long time.
Change sometimes requires the pain of accepting failure. However, rationality eases that suffering and allows us to get feedback.
We call this process cutting losses. We know we will not repeat the same mistake. In the long run, that is more effective. That is why we can change without guilt.
Conclusion
That is how rationality eliminates unnecessary emotions and allows us to take action.
If you learn, you can cause trouble for others and dispose of unnecessary things that still have value.
