Now I am thinking of how to be logical. Come to think of it, although I often thought about how to use emotions, I didn’t consider the meaning of rationality.
Today, I will talk about what logical strength is.
What is the purpose of logical strength?
Sometimes, we want to know the meaning of our individuality. We often struggle with our uniqueness because of our ignorance about it.
Knowing its purpose allows us to use it as our talent.
One typical example is logical sense. Recently, I have explained that it calms empathy down. If intense empathy bothers us, training our logical strength allows us to be emotionally calm.

However, we sometimes don’t know much about logical ability. What is its purpose, and how can we use it efficiently?
Today, I will talk about what logical strength is. This perspective might allow you to be more rational.
The power to understand unknowns
In my opinion, logical strength is the power to understand unknowns. It reduces the fear of unfamiliarity and ignorance.
In other words, it is an approach to understanding unknowns from the big picture.

Perhaps these concepts are too abstract, so let’s look at an example.
Continuous necessities and wants
We often encounter things we are inexperienced with. Imagine a situation: we have to or want to do something, even though we have never experienced it.
It might be swimming, cooking, building a shed, sewing a costume, writing a story or blog, painting pictures, mastering an instrument, creating our business, living independently, and realizing happiness.

There is no precedent of success with the same circumstances as ours. We have to do it with our current knowledge alone.
We often encounter such a situation in our lives. Living our own path is a series of such circumstances.
Logical sense allows us to overcome them efficiently.
Comprehending things from the big picture
Let’s comprehend something from the big picture.
For example, let’s say we want to learn to swim without teachers and the internet. We have to realize it by ourselves. What does swimming look like when we view it as a whole?
Some might say, “They are moving their legs and arms.”
Some might think, “They are moving through the water like a fish.”

However, they are not the whole picture. If true, can we swim just by moving our arms and legs? Can we swim just by imagining or acting like a fish? Although it may be possible for some geniuses, they usually don’t apply to us.
In other words, they are not the big picture but parts. Perhaps they cannot swim well.
How logical people see things
Logical people see it differently.
For example, some might guess, “Swimming consists of three parts: floating in the water, breathing well, and gaining force to go forward with arms and legs.”

This idea would be more reasonable. It makes us swim more easily. First, we try to only float in the water. It would not be so hard. Then, breathe while floating. If we can float easily, it would be easy as well. Finally, we try to go forward with our arms and legs. If we are used to floating and breathing, we will be able to do it soon. It makes sense.
Even though it would be awkward at first, we can swim. In addition, that idea improves our swimming skills gradually because we can apply it to many swimming styles.
Examples of applying principles
We call such essential, effective ideas principles.
Principles can be applied to other things as well.
For example, we can deal with creating a boat similarly. We replace our bodies with a boat body. We can achieve it in three parts: the power to float, a structure to prevent us from soaking in water, and a system to move forward.
These principles can also be used for more abstract matters.

For example, let’s think of the essence of happiness. We can see happiness as a voyage.
From this perspective, happiness would consist of three parts: a power not to sink in the sea of others’ values, a structure to keep us safe, and a system to move forward to our desires.
Even a swimming skill shows us the big picture of happiness.
Of course, we can also apply it to creating stories or painting pictures. In other words, we can make unfamiliars familiar.
Why empathy confuses us
On the other hand, if we forget to see the big picture, we often end up only seeking the abstract.
A typical example is desiring only happiness or money. Although we want it, we don’t think of what happiness or money is.
It may be something imaginary that empathy causes. It is a common pleasure that everyone dreams of, such as richness, luxury, a stable job, comfortable human relationships, social success, and health.

“What I want is only happiness.”
“If only I had enough money.”
Although it is an empathic way to chase dreams, it is unreasonable to pursue such common images, especially if we have unique individuality.
Learning unknowns: things that are not good at empathy
The solution is not to focus on the opposite, such as focusing on misfortunes in the world and feeling pity for people without money. Imagining fortunes and misfortunes are parts of empathy, not the big picture of things in the universe. Looking forward and backward from the current location doesn’t mean to see the whole world.
Solving fear is the same. Dealing with empathy cannot solve the fear of the unknown.
Empathy cannot imagine what it doesn’t know. It means that it only feels secure with what it knows.

However, what kind of state is knowing sufficient? For example, when we try to learn a second language, what does it mean to have learned enough?
That is the reason why we often feel pain from learning skills based on empathy. Empathy is not a way to learn unknown things joyfully.
Proceeding without special knowledge
That is why logical sense allows us to proceed toward unknowns without special knowledge. We can learn many things with principles that we already have.
Even the essence of cooking, ‘Chop meat and vegetables, heat them enough, and salt and pepper them!’ can tell us how to build our business.

It tells us we already have what we need inside us. Instead of pursuing ambiguous imagination, we focus on the big picture, principles, and applications.
It will free you from anxiety toward unknowns. That changes our reality.
Conclusion
That is the purpose of logical sense and how we can use it efficiently, in my current opinion.
It is the power to understand unknowns. It reduces the fear of unfamiliarity and ignorance.
This perspective might allow you to be more rational.
