I migrated to Oita Prefecture this month. The more I learned about this area, the more I liked it. One attractiveness is using their individuality well. Today, I will talk about it.
How to live abundantly and quietly
Sometimes, we want to live abundantly and quietly. We are not good at social stress. That is why we want to live in the countryside.
However, we sometimes hesitate because we do not know how to make it happen.
One typical problem would be we don’t know how to be abundant without social troubles.
We often believe becoming rich contradicts living peacefully. We think we have to be famous to be wealthy. However, fame easily causes envy and hate. Many people yearn for wealth, but at the same time, they hate rich people and try to make trouble for them. That makes us hesitate and stagnate.
In such a case, the style of Oita Prefecture might help. We can live abundantly but inconspicuously. This style might tell us how to live.
The Oita Prefecture’s unique style to become rich
Living abundantly but inconspicuously: this lifestyle could suit us. In other words, we don’t have to try to win. We can create something that is not major but has high added value.
The style of Oita Prefecture taught me it. They are rich without social hatred. Let me explain it below.
My first impression of Oita Prefecture was an inconspicuous countryside. Sorry for those who live in Oita Prefecture, but that was my honest feeling. Perhaps many people in this country also have similar thoughts. We neither envy nor respect this prefecture.
However, after I moved here, I changed my thoughts. I felt this area was abundant. This area had beautiful places, spacious and clean downtown areas, well-maintained street trees, a good paved road, and a peaceful atmosphere. Many people owned cars. This area was much easier to live in than the large city, like Tokyo or Osaka.
This area would be one ideal for those who want to live naturally in peace.
Using unique styles while avoiding fighting in major fields
Perhaps their unique style benefited them. They don’t fight in the majors and make profits in their unique way. That gave them abundance without being jealous of others.
They have a diversity of regions. The most unique element would be hot springs. They are famous for them, but they are not major because they don’t provide excitement. The major tourism industry is always exciting. It is not for young families that spend much money. It might be for the elderly.
Another example is the One Village One Product movement that I mentioned in the previous article (this article). They focused on their individuality and made profits with minor but high-added value.
The pickled dried plums called Umeboshi were not a major ingredient, but people in this country often used them in traditional foods.
They also grew and processed chestnuts. People in this country don’t consume chestnuts too much, but they consume them at a specific time of year: a new year. People eat paste chestnuts called Kurikinton in the new year as a tradition, but it is so expensive compared to the amount of chestnuts. It means it is a product with high added value.
Of course, they also have large-scale heavy industries. I didn’t know this prefecture had such a big scale. However, they are not as famous as other industrial areas.
Thinking about what our wealth is
That is why their lifestyle could suit us, people who want to live abundantly but inconspicuously. They are rich and distant from social hatred.
Being famous in major industries doesn’t always mean happiness. We need to include calmness in our lifestyles. In other words, not creating flashy also could bring us abundance.
A good place to live is a place where we maximize our wealth with our values, not the others’. Although the total income level in this prefecture is lower than in urban areas, affluence is not just about money. We have to include many weighted aspects of wealth.
We don’t have to be social winners to get abundance. Oita Prefecture might be a country area where most people look down on it. However, it has solid happiness and a great environment, at least for someone like me.
Conclusion
That would be the style of Oita Prefecture, in my opinion.
We can live abundantly away from social hatred by using our individuality, like this prefecture.
This style might tell us how to live.
