Talking About My Current Satisfaction After Moving to the Countryside

Yesterday, I finally completed all the to-do lists for my move and settled down. Of course, there are still many things to explore in a new environment and apply to my life. However, I finished a big task.

Today, I will talk about my current satisfaction after moving to the countryside.

What are the benefits and losses of living in the countryside?

Sometimes, we want to know what and how someone changed his life. Those stories teach us opportunities, risks, and problem-solving wisdom. Even if it ended in failure, we can learn from it. We can sometimes make our own countermeasures and try them on his behalf.

In other words, stories about challenges in life are helpful.

However, we sometimes don’t have enough examples due to our unique individuality. Due to our unique personality, the experiences of similar people are often rare.

Today, I will talk about my current satisfaction after moving to the countryside. This knowledge might help you someday if you wish to live independently.

My circumstances and current satisfaction

First, I will explain my circumstances again. This month, I migrated to Kitsuki City, the area with the cheapest rents in Japan. It is located in the countryside by the sea. The historical housing market collapse caused the low rent in this area.

I had to leave my previous house due to my relative’s circumstances. I lived in a vacant house that one of my relatives owned, but she decided to live in that house. That forced me to move.

I wanted to live more affordably and peacefully in the countryside area. That made me decide to migrate to Kitsuki City.

My answer: ‘Not bad at all!’

The current impression of my migration was ‘not bad at all!’

Perhaps this is because I didn’t expect good things. This move was not of my will, and I didn’t expect my life would be better through this migration.

There were good points but also bad points. I will never say everything went well, but I am satisfied with this new environment. I am living more comfortably so far than in my previous house without much difference in the cost of life.

The pros and cons of living in the countryside

Let’s take a look at the pros and cons.

Pros and unexpected good things:

  • Having a more quiet and peaceful environment (as I expected)
  • A beautiful home and equipment (unexpected)
  • The cost of rent is not much different from living in an owned house
  • Warm rooms even in the winter, thanks to the downstairs resident’s heating
  • 2 minute walk to the beautiful beach that refreshes me

Cons:

  • An apartment life to be careful not to make loud noises
  • TV sound noise in the afternoon due to the downstairs resident
  • Moving costs

Negative points that no longer bother me:

  • Distance to the grocery stores: I found a 20 km bicycle ride is easy!

The benefit of the low rent

The low rent directly makes our lives comfortable. The housing cost is generally the highest among the cost of living. In other words, reducing our housing costs makes our lives much easier than saving money on food or entertainment.

Of course, there are reasons for the low rent, such as lack of public security or old equipment.

However, sometimes there are reasons that are easier to accept: inconvenience or the area’s history. We can deal with inconvenience with our creativity. We don’t mind the historical market collapse in this area.

This perspective might allow us to find a nice place in the peaceful countryside.

The countryside disadvantage no longer bothers me

In the case of my migration, I don’t see any disadvantages to moving to the countryside. A peaceful environment, abundant nature, and a slow life. I am completely satisfied.

All negative aspects are caused by the apartment life. However, there are good and bad things about it. The old lady who lives just downstairs gives me a warm room because she always uses the heating. At the same time, her TV is a little loud. There are benefits and losses.

In my case, fortunately, I came to be satisfied with this environment. I got used to the TV sound, and the warm room temperature makes me feel comfortable as the winter gets cold. I can live in silence from the evening to the morning. The TV noise in the afternoon is not a problem.

Conclusion

That is why I felt, ‘not bad at all’ about this migration to the countryside.

The low rent directly makes our lives comfortable. There are sometimes acceptable reasons, such as inconvenience or the area’s history.

This knowledge might help you someday if you wish to live independently.
