One Example of Finding the Best Solution: Try to Focus On a Terrifying Option

In the previous article (this article), I mentioned a way to recover from mental shocks. After regaining mental energy, we have to solve our problems. Today, I will introduce an example of finding the best solution when we don’t know what to choose.

How to find the best solution

Sometimes, we want the best solution, especially when deciding between options. All options have similar pros and cons; we don’t know which is better.

On the other hand, we sometimes can suddenly find the unnoticed best solution and are surprised. We might wonder, “Why didn’t I notice this?”

However, we seldom consider it because we feel relieved by solving problems. We don’t need to think of it for a while. That makes us keep not knowing the mental process of finding the best solution.

Today, I will explain one example to find the best solution. Try focusing on a terrifying option just to think about it. This realization might allow us to reconsider the options and find the best way.

The option with fear: it could be the best solution

The option with fear sometimes could turn out to be the best solution. This is because we often can solve fear more easily than dealing with material restrictions.

When we don’t know which to choose, all options have similar pros and cons. The amounts of their benefits and drawbacks are all similar.

However, there could be a cons we can clear. One of them is fear. We tend to fear the unknown. Although we feel it easily, fear is one of the easiest mental reactions to deal with. Revealing the unknown makes fear disappear. Facing and learning about it is a way. It is simple.

If we clear the fear, many shortcomings of the option disappear. All that remains are advantages. The more we feel it is terrible, the more potential the option has.

That is why we sometimes suddenly find the best solution when we experience a different way of life. When we realize there is another way to live, our fear will lessen.

The emotional reaction that blinds us

In other words, our emotional reaction can blind us to the best solution by emphasizing the option’s fear. Such an emotional reaction makes us stop thinking any further. We often rule out an option irrationally just by having emotional reactions.

Being aware of this logic allows us to reconsider our options.

When we don’t know which to choose, try finding a terrifying option just to think about it. It could be the best solution.

My recent experience

In my recent experience, I suddenly came to have to leave my current house until next month. That upset me emotionally, made me stick to buying a house in close areas, and took away the courage to move to a new frontier in other areas.

However, after learning about the most affordable area in my country, my curiosity grew. The more I learned about it, the more I realized living there looked good.

Curiosity belongs to a logical sense. We can learn it while being cautious with risks. In other words, thinking with curiosity gives us a calm judgment.

That gave me a solution that seemed to be the best. Now I am heading toward moving to a faraway place. Clearing the fear gave me the advantage of the option.

Conclusion

That is one example of finding the best solution. The option with fear sometimes could turn out to be the best solution.

In such a case, try focusing on a terrifying option just to think about it.

This realization might allow us to reconsider the options and find the best way.
