I like predicting the future and have talked about it recently. Today, let’s introduce how to apply the past cycles to the present.
How to predict the future more correctly
Sometimes, we want to predict the future correctly. Predicting future changes gives us opportunities, such as making money, increasing wealth, securing safety, or managing resources efficiently.
Understanding historical cycles is a way to realize them. Many people cannot think long-term, including the past. They judge things based on only recent events and ignore long-term historical mistakes that have been repeated many times. That causes historical cycles in many human-determined areas, such as wars, the rise and fall of the state, or the price changes in the financial market.
We can use the cycles to predict the future.
The problem of periodic difference
However, we sometimes find it difficult because history doesn’t always repeat itself in the same way.
For example, in the economy, the period of the economic boom changes every time. One lasted 5 years, while another lasted over 8 years. In the rise and fall of the state, one dynasty lasted only 50 years, but another lasted over 200 years. The price cycles in the financial market behave similarly.
Those fluctuations make it hard to predict the future.
Today, I will introduce how to apply the past cycles to the present. This knowledge might allow us to foresee the future more correctly.
The role of logical and spiritual senses
When we try to predict the future, we have to balance logical and spiritual sense. If we are biased towards one side, we will make a big mistake later. I will explain the reason later.
Each role is as follows:
- Logical sense (scientific thinking): It tells us the historical cycles. We judge based on past numerical data.
- Spiritual sense (nature-based thinking): It allows us to apply the past cycles to the present. We judge based on natural laws.
In other words, we have to use contradictory skills at the same time.
The natural laws that tell us natural behaviors
When we judge with a spiritual sense, there are several natural laws, as follows:
- What flourishes declines.
- Things with solid power but have declined will regain their status later.
- If unnaturally suppressed, it will rebound and significantly rise later.
- If unnaturally raised, it will rebound and significantly fall later.
- If the duration is unnaturally extended, it will cause rapid fluctuation in a short period later.
- If unnaturally try to shorten the duration, the negative aftereffects will prolong.
These laws of nature allow us to apply the past cycles to the present. Let me explain them below.
How to use the natural laws to predict the future
We live in the multiple aspects of values. Sometimes, we value energetic activities. However, we sometimes want to rest and go to bed. They are contradictory, but both are necessary. They occur alternately, like waves.
They are the same as our minds. Assume we have positive and negative minds, although we don’t know which is positive or negative.
We have mental duality. If we have empathy and creativity and use empathy alone in the long term, that will gradually make us want to do another activity that uses creativity. What flourishes declines, so empathy behaves so unless we are forced to do so. On the other hand, declined things with power will regain their status later, so creativity arises.
Let’s see another example. If we suppress negative thoughts unnaturally, we will always have rebounds. That is why we sometimes cannot resist our destructive wants if we suppress one side of our minds. If we try to keep motivation higher unnaturally, it will drop suddenly later. That is why we often suffer from a plummet in motivation.
We cannot escape from them because they are the laws of nature. We have to know we cannot control everything.
An economic example of predicting the future
The economy behaves similarly.
For example, an economic boom usually lasts 5 to 8 years, and then a recession occurs. They are both necessary. An economic boom gives people prosperity. A recession makes people let go of unnecessary things and solidify the foundation for the next progress. Getting new things and disposing of old, unnecessary ones both make efficiency.
However, many governments have valued only an economic boom and hated recession. They have tried to keep the economic boom as long as possible. In the U.S., the current economic boom has lasted over 15 years since 2009 (excluding the flash crash of 2020). In China, it has lasted over 20 years since the 2000s.
What will happen in the near future
That tells us what will happen in the near future.
If we think about it naturally, as the period of an economic boom increases, so does the period of recession. The next recession would last longer. It could be the worst depression in the history we have experienced.
If unnaturally raised, it will rebound and fall significantly later. Many governments have tried to raise the stock prices by printing more money. That would make the commodity prices, such as gold, silver, crude, or crops, soar significantly later.
Now, from the perspective of the short term (these several months), stock and oil prices keep going unnaturally due to the U.S. presidential election. If unnaturally extended the duration, that will cause rapid fluctuation in a short period later. That tells us that a short-term stock market crash and the crude price rise could happen right after or around the presidential election.
I don’t recommend trading them because they are short-term and not based on cycles. However, we can predict the fluctuation.
We have to balance cycles and the laws of nature. If we ignore one side, we often face sudden decline as the phase of the cycle changes. Although the majority of people have such a surprised reaction, we can avoid it thanks to our awareness of the cycle and the laws of nature.
To use our predictions effectively
We can apply those laws of nature in various areas. Our mental state in the future is one example.
This tells us it is unnatural to continue to raise some value at a constant rate. We have to accept fluctuation, like waves.
We don’t need to be perfect. We can make mistakes when we try to predict the future. Making mistakes is natural because we cannot perfectly predict the future.
As I often say, we cannot distinguish which is good or bad. We don’t know which is positive or negative. There is happiness in disguise. A failure could help us in the future. A success could cause other troubles.
However, we can head in the direction we want to go. If we are empathic and creative, independence would be a suitable direction.
The power of predicting the future would help us to proceed in that direction a lot.
Conclusion
That is how to apply the past cycles to the present.
We can use the logical and spiritual senses at the same time. The logical sense tells us the historical cycles. The spiritual sense allows us to apply the past cycles to the present.
This knowledge might allow us to predict the future more correctly and change our future.
