Since I have written a large amount of text these days, let me take a break. Today is a free talk about duality, health, and money.
What is dualism?
I have recently focused on dualism. It provides us with another solution.
There are two different approaches to solving problems, as follows:
- A monism approach is that we first identify the cause and look for a solution according to the cause. This is effective when the cause is clear or the relationship is simple. Scientific thinking is based on this way.
- A dualism approach is that we have two contradictory aspects and change their balance. We don’t have to identify the cause in this way. This is effective in a chaotic situation that has many influencing factors, such as our lives, health, or happiness.

The most benefit of dualism would be that we can find a solution without identifying the cause. It makes us feel at ease when we don’t have to think about the reasons. What troubles us the most is often identifying the true cause.
In a chaotic situation like our usual life, everything seems to be the cause. It seems like someone else’s fault, but at the same time, it feels like our fault. We want to blame others, but we also know we have to change ourselves. It is the outside matter, but we know our inner mind caused it. We cannot identify the true cause.
Pinpointing the true cause is almost impossible.
Using them effectively
In such a case, thinking with dualism helps. There are contradictory aspects inside us. Being active or resting is one iconic conflict. We can change such a balance without considering the cause.
Switching to this approach might help us.

Of course, the way of monism is useful.
For example, even in health, scientific thinking is useful for simple matters, such as the purpose of increasing muscle strength, running fast, or creating prosthetic legs. The scientific way is effective for them because the factors are limited.
However, when it comes to abstract problems like happiness or life, it suddenly becomes helpless because there are many factors.
My case of diarrhea
In my case, when I was a university student, I often had diarrhea. My bad posture caused it. At that time, I sat on the floor and worked on my PC on the low table. The posture pressed my guts and caused diarrhea. Several years later, switching to using a chair solved it.
However, if I consulted a hospital, I would likely be diagnosed with a chronic illness. It is an incurable disease because they cannot investigate the cause in my daily life.
It means that diarrhea caused by a bad posture, even such an easy solution, is an incurable disease for science. This is the limitation of science. There are so many chronic illnesses.

This is why science can only provide symptomatic treatment. If we have diarrhea, they can only examine the guts. They have to reduce the factor that influences the intestines as much as possible.
Life or happiness is the same. Even though there is the concept of well-being or mindfulness, they cannot touch the individual realm of happiness or ways of living.
Perhaps around 500 years later, science may have advanced that far. However, we cannot wait until then. Using the perspective of dualism can be a solution.
The meaning of religion
It also tells us the meaning of religion.
Religion doesn’t need to reconcile with science because science has limitations, and religion can cover it.

Typical examples are the meaning of life, how to deal with death, and how to use our spirituality. They are things we have to balance inside us.
If a religion sticks to proving itself scientifically, it could destroy itself. Religion has its own merits.
Money problem
Money is also a problem, even if we head toward independence.
There is no ultimate way to make money. This is because it depends on others. Even if we create a great product, if someone makes another thing that is more affordable and effective, our product will not sell. Even if we produce the best thing, if the competitors’ promotions or interference are good, our product will not sell as well.

In the first place, the customers are others. Selling a product to others means we have to depend on them. It is contradictory to self-reliance. Whether they buy or not depends on them. We don’t want to control others.
In other words, there are always uncertainties that we cannot handle. In addition, the uncertainty can be caused by society or organizations, which we are not good at dealing with the most.
That is the nature of competition.
Change the angle
If we deal with this money problem from the perspective of dualism, changing the angle might help.
Perhaps competition is not something we dislike. We can enjoy competition itself, such as online games that determine rankings.
What we don’t like about the competition would be the situation where we can never win, we have to compete forever, or we are involved with human troubles.

If we find a place where we can win easily or focus on the game freely, we will enjoy it.
This tells us that it might be better to be distant from the frustrating places. In other words, we become honest with ourselves, stop being patient, and decide by mood. Although this is not a competitive way, this is the dualism approach. This can lead us to a better environment.
That is my current answer to the money problem.
Conclusion
Perhaps I have talked enough about this topic.
I will wrap up and conclude this in the next article or move on to the next topic.
Thank you for reading this article. I hope to see you in the next one.
