I like to think about the meaning behind the difference. It tells me how to use the difference efficiently and allows me to apply it to other problems.
Today, I will talk about how to get out of the competition by explaining the meaning of difference.
How to stop competing with others
Sometimes, we want to stop competing with others and use our unique talents. If we have individuality, social competition stresses us because we have to be patient in areas we are not good at.
Even though winning the competition gives us excitement and short-term exhilaration, it never fulfills us because it doesn’t provide us with happiness. Excitement and exhilaration are diversions to keep doing unnatural things. On the other hand, doing what we can do naturally and being natural gives us happiness.
Ignoring our individuality causes not only our suffering but also social loss. In this world, different things are connected and working together. Not everyone has to do the same thing.
However, we sometimes cannot stop competing with others, especially when we have an inferiority complex. Strong emotions, such as anger, sadness, envy, loneliness, or grudge, make us lose our honest minds and force us to compete with others.
In such a case, using logical sense could calm us down because it limits emotional activity.
Today, I will talk about the meaning of difference. This is a logical way of looking at things. It might allow us to calm uncontrollable emotions, let go of unnatural life, choose more natural behavior, and show our talents.
The meaning of difference that changes our lives
To calm down our minds and stop unnecessary stressful competition, let’s consider why there are differences.
There are so many differences in the world. For example, there are many species, such as plants, birds, animals, insects, and bacteria. Not only them, but human nature is also various. Our lifestyles, cultures, or items have diverse qualities.
That tells us there is no strongest or best thing, including the strongest or best life.
If there is the best shape or style, everything should converge on one form. No one can resist that strongest life; all other species will perish. Only one strongest species should live in the world if so.
However, the reality is not so. There are various species and lives. Having diversity is natural.
Humans and bacteria, which is stronger?
We cannot say which is stronger.
For example, humans or bacteria, which is stronger? Humans can kill bacteria easily, but toxic bacteria also kill humans effortlessly. Humans can use tools, but bacteria can live anywhere.
If we think about the difference in lifestyle, we don’t know which one is better or stronger. We don’t know which is stronger: the people who depend on society or the people who are independent.
One thing we can say is that we live with those differences.
What is abundance?
The meaning of difference also tells us we can never distinguish what is universal abundance.
Some might think having a car is an abundance. However, not having it could be an abundance. For example, if we can easily shop for groceries or use the stock efficiently, we don’t have to have cars to go to grocery stores so frequently.
Cell phones are the same. Looking at our cell phones all the time could be one form of richness. However, we can also live a lifestyle in which we don’t have to use them and live naturally. It would be a wealthy state as well.
It is the same with our minds. Many people want to be respected by many other people. They believe that it is abundance. However, there is a peaceful mental state in which we feel we don’t have to be respected by so many people. Such a mental state could be more abundant.
When we understand that, we know we cannot say what is abundance. It is all about whether it suits us or not.
Living in a place of fluctuation
Perhaps these differences are necessary because we—all life—are living in a fluctuating environment. The earth is a place of fluctuation. Change is natural. That would be why we have different natures.
Although our unique natures make us struggle to find how to use them efficiently, if we once discover them, we will know where and how to live. That gives us peaceful and comfortable lives.
Knowing the reasons helps us to use our individualities to the fullest. Every difference has reasons.
Accepting differences means being natural. That will give us a new perspective on how to live.
Conclusion
That is the meaning of difference.
There is no strongest or best thing, including the strongest or best life.
This might allow us to calm uncontrollable emotions, let go of unnatural life, choose more natural behavior, and show our talents.
