How to find a good place to live a secluded life
Sometimes, we want a more peaceful life in the countryside. Many social activities stress us, such as disgusting jobs, human relationships we don’t like, noisy environments, or a lack of freedom. That makes us desire a quiet life.
Seclusion in the countryside would be one way if we are not good at social life. We can live more independently from society. That gives us a more peaceful life. Although we sacrifice our convenient access to social resources, it doesn’t matter so much to us.
However, we often don’t know where to live such a life. We want various satisfactions, such as quietness, convenience for grocery shopping, peace of mind for safety, and lowering the living cost. Such complexity confuses our imaginations about where to live.
Although there are many places to live, there are pros and cons.
For example, there are three areas to live in: urban, resort, and rural. They have pros and cons. The urban side is convenient but noisy. The resort area is beautiful but expensive. The rural area is quiet but inconvenient. That is why we often cannot find a place for seclusion.
My trouble to move
I was just in such a situation. Several weeks ago, the owner of this house told me that I had to leave my current one. The owner is one of my relatives. She inherited this house, but she lived in another city with her family and was troubled about how to deal with this vacant house. That is why I moved to this house. I can live cheaply, and she can maintain this house without trouble. That was a win-win.
Then, after the growth and independence of her children, she decided to move to this house. She told me that I have to leave this house until next June.
That made me think of where to live. I wanted a more secluded life. I realized I could use this as an opportunity to realize my dream.
However, after I began to search for a new house, I noticed a problem with where to live. I needed to meet various wants.
The balance of quietness and cost
In my case, the most crucial factor was a quiet place with low living costs. Those two are contradictory. The far countryside would be peaceful, but it costs more to get around. For example, I don’t want to own a car to go to the grocery stores because it costs. The urban side is convenient for grocery shopping but stressful for me.
In addition, I also wanted to lower the initial cost. I don’t need a new house. I don’t care if it is an old one. Quietness, convenience, costs, safety, and selling again, I had to fill those requirements.
Of course, a perfect solution is quite rare. I have to find the best one with my creativity.
Today, I will talk about my answer to that. There could be a good place for seclusion in the corridor between the city and the resort.
The three areas for people to live in
There are three types of locations for people to live in. They are as follows:
- In the urban area: The majority live here. This is convenient but noisy.
- In the resort or rural area: Rich people or farmers live in those places. This is inconvenient but quiet. Rich people in cities have villas in resort areas. Rich people in rural areas have businesses in those areas. The old houses tend to be expensive or too large. This area tends to be costly due to a lack of transportation means.
- In the corridor between the urban and the resort: Some people live in the narrow area between the city and the resort (or rural area). The house size tends to be smaller and more affordable. This area could be ideal for a secluded life with low living costs.
Let me explain below.
The ‘corridor’ area for seclusion
There is a narrow area between the city and the resort, or the city and the rural area. A main road or a highway connects the urban area and the resort. I call those intermediate areas ‘corridors.’
Those corridors are often ideal for a seclusive life with lower initial costs. The reasons are as follows:
- Fewer population and abundant nature
- The good view due to the difference in elevation
- Easier access to grocery stores
- Affordable used houses in a safe environment
Features of the corridor areas
Those corridor areas tend to have few flat areas. Those areas are not for large-scale businesses. That is why those areas have less population.
However, there is a main road. It is not completely cut off from society, like a remote island. There is often a large shopping mall in the suburbs. There would also be public transportation. The area along the main load is convenient.
In addition, that main load gives us safety in an emergency. We can have at least one method to keep connecting with society, even if we seldom use it.
Of course, it would be noisy and dusty right next to the main load. However, if we take a short distance, we will find many quiet places with good views.
The corridor connecting the city and another city tends to be expensive and noisy. On the other hand, the corridors connecting the urban area with the resort or rural area tend to be nice. The corridors toward resorts tend to be beautiful and convenient. The corridors toward the rural would be quiet and convenient.
Conclusion
The corridor between the city and the resort could be a good place to live a secluded life.
Those areas could give us an opportunity if we cannot find a good place.
