Although I concluded the discussion on the mental system of expression in the previous article (this article), I will add a bit more explanation. Let’s look at how we start to desire to express ourselves.
What is the purpose of expressing ourselves?
Sometimes, we want to understand how our mental system works. It provides us with a rational solution for our mental wants.
One curious mental function is expressing ourselves. Why do we have to feel such a strong desire? How can we resolve it? Does expressing ourselves improve our minds? What is its purpose?

However, we sometimes don’t know the meaning of expressing ourselves.
Today, I will explain how we come to desire to express ourselves with more concrete examples. This logic might help you resolve your mental struggles related to expression.
The purpose of expressing ourselves
Expression is an early part of logical processing, as I explained in the previous article. It simplifies and clarifies our situation, making the event easier to recognize logically. That allows us to think and decide rationally. That is why logical people tend to have a stronger desire to express themselves, especially in the early stages of their lives after they come to understand the world logically.
Examples are writing a diary, creating stories, and singing a song. They are verbal ways. On the other hand, painting, playing instruments, and dancing are nonverbal ways. They allow us to recognize our situations and decide more logically.

In other words, feeling a contradiction creates the desire for expression.
One iconic contradiction is the following question: “If we are worthless to live, why were we born?”
Many people treat us as useless. However, we can see that there is something wrong. There are also things in the world that are worthless or even harmful. We don’t know how we should understand this contradiction.
How the desire arises
When we become aware of such a contradiction, we come to desire to express it.
For example, suppose many people told a girl that she was worthless. She also believed it superficially. However, she was logical and had a vague feeling that the treatment was unreasonable. However, since she could not resolve the contradiction, she suppressed it deep in her heart.
In such a situation, one person was kind to her and helped her. At that moment, she became aware of the contradiction in the world. Everyone except the person treated her as a nuisance, but there was a person who accepted her existence and saved her.

That drives her to express herself. She will try to see and incorporate the bright side to her life. Being aware of the contradiction stimulates her motivation to express.
In other words, expressing desire occurs within incomprehension of one’s belief.
For another example, let’s say a man who feels happy. However, he suddenly encountered a crucial misfortune, such as losing love. It is inconsistent with his belief that his life should be happy.
That makes him want to express his feelings. He will try to see and incorporate the negative side to his life. That is a reaction for those with logical sense.
Philosophy that resolves contradictions
Philosophy resolves those contradictions.
Since those questions don’t have specific answers, we have no choice but to live based on hypotheses. The collection of hypotheses is philosophy.
For example, let’s return to the following question: “If we have no value to live, why were we born?”
In my case, I introduced concepts of the laws of nature and the laws of humans. The laws of nature are larger than human laws. Life creates and develops diversity. That allowed me to clarify the contradiction.

For another example, I wondered why some people cannot feel others’ emotions. It seemed harmful to society. In other words, that was a contradiction within me. That made me create the classification of the four types of personalities, which I often used several years ago in this blog. That resolved my complex emotions toward less empathic people.
They are all hypotheses, since I cannot prove they are correct. In other words, they are temporary principles that resolved my confusion. The collection of these principles is my philosophy.
That reduced my emotional exhaustion and allowed me to think rationally. In other words, the desire for expression is to solve our emotional confusions and to become rational.
Conclusion
That is how we can fulfill the desire to express ourselves.
Expression is an early part of logical processing, and philosophy resolves those contradictions.
This logic might help you resolve your mental struggles related to expression.
