Why Online Efficiency Systems Become Useless in a Turbulent Era

In the previous article (this article), I explained why the information on the internet becomes pointless in a turbulent era. The internet, including AI, doesn’t teach us our essential mistakes. They only return what we asked.

That made me aware of the risk in planning. Let’s discuss it.

What will the near future be like?

Sometimes, we want to predict the future change. Preparing for it secures us and enriches us.

One typical change will be how to use the internet efficiently in our business.

Although many people still believe that constructing automated businesses online provides efficiency, I predict that they will gradually become ineffective for a while.

In other words, consider avoiding precise scheduling. That will provide more efficiency.

Today, I will explain why. This perspective may show you how to live efficiently during a confusing period.

My recent experience

In a turbulent era, avoid creating a precise schedule. Although it is effective in a stable era, it will not work well in a confusing period.

The reason is simple: when communities are becoming disconnected, things often don’t go as planned.

For example, my parents’ car broke down two weeks ago. However, its repair schedule has changed multiple times due to a labor shortage of repairmen. Even an official Toyota factory cannot repair Toyota cars. It could not obtain the old car’s parts quickly. Even after finding them a week later, they still could not repair the vehicle correctly. At the end, it got scrapped.

Since my parents are retired, the impact was minimal. However, having unexpected problems with major equipment can be fatal for those who run businesses.

Avoiding precise planning

That experience showed me the vulnerability of incorporating planning into our businesses.

Precise planning is one business service. It includes quick customer service, reservations, and accurate delivery.

However, in an era where the unexpected often happens, we cannot rely on such services.

It means that constructing a business efficiency system online will be pointless for a while. Although many companies have developed systems to improve operational efficiency, fixed systems become more meaningless in an era that demands frequent essential updates in the business system.

In other words, common sense during the internet era becomes inefficient. Relying on the internet will become risky, in my opinion.

Securing simple and traditional business styles

One solution to adapt to the following turbulent era is to secure simple and traditional business styles: create with what we have and sell what we created.

For example, in sewing bags, we sew bags and sell them. We avoid making reservations or scheduled deliveries. In the baking business, we sell only what we have baked. In investment, we sell things we actually buy and own. We avoid margin trading and short selling. They are vulnerable to the unexpected.

Try considering a business that doesn’t rely on the internet. During a social disconnection era, industries that depend on internet-streamlined operations will face greater operational troubles.

When you want to buy some products or services, consider using local businesses instead of online companies. Buy the items that are in stock, and avoid purchasing or reserving things that are out of stock. Use more cash than credit.

That will be a preparation for the following confusing period.

Conclusion

That is my perspective on how to live efficiently in a confusing period.

In a turbulent era, avoid creating a precise schedule. Instead, try connecting with local businesses that don’t rely on the internet.

That will be a preparation for the following confusing period.
