One solution is being rational and strategic. That allows us to enjoy predicting and having feedback. It is intellectual fun. Today, I will introduce that style with my recent experience.

Being rational and strategic enables us to enjoy the process. Predicting something logically makes us want to know the result. Even if the outcome is unexpected, we can guess the reasons and reconstruct our logic.
If we are rational, we don’t continue to focus on pointless activities whose outcomes are obvious. We try to focus on a new reasonable behavior whose result is unclear. That is a strategic perspective. We enjoy confirming whether our current logic is correct while keeping a broader, historical perspective.
In this process, we want to eliminate unnecessary elements that affect our logic, even if they are beneficial in another aspect.
My case
For example, several weeks ago, one of my elderly relatives visited my home. I had many hard times with her less empathic personality, which is filled with a mental complex, since my childhood. When she learned that I was creating bags, she offered to buy the one I was sewing at that time. Her offered price was three times higher than the market price. She was rich.
However, I rejected it intentionally. My rationality made me do so. I wanted to know how much attention that bag would receive and how well it would sell. Although financial profit was fundamental for creating businesses, it was not necessary at my current stage. Feedback from the market was far more beneficial for me than the superficial, temporary money that will not last long.
In addition, I doubted whether she would use my bag. I wanted to sell my work to those who use it happily, rather than to someone who doesn’t use it, even if she pays three times.
Now I want to receive the feedback—a correct sense of reality—from the market directly, rather than having an acquaintance buy my works for me. Not selling as expected is also one of the stages that beginners experience. It is a pleasure that I can only enjoy when I am a beginner. That is why I decided not to notify in advance which festival I will participate in.
