A Short Talk About Stressors

Today, I will take a rest, so let’s talk about my current thinking briefly.

The source of my strange stress

I had been frustrated since this morning, but I didn’t realize that fact. I felt drowsy even after breakfast.

Then, I realized the cause. I enjoyed walking and cycling yesterday, but I overdid them.

The day before yesterday, I overate. That made me want to exercise yesterday. Since my physical state was excellent, I biked a bit farther and looked for beautiful scenery. Then, I realized that walking in a rural area in this season is fantastic. I enjoyed biking and walking about 1.5 times more than usual. That made me physically worn out.

In other words, it was not an emotional matter. It was a physical one.

Thinking rationally

That realization freed me from the stress, despite my body’s exhaustion.

We sometimes misidentify the cause. It is unreasonable to regard every suffering from negative emotions as a mental problem. Changes in weather and temperature can also stress us, especially during the seasonal transition like now.

There can be another distinctive sign that indicates the true cause. In my case, that was my unusual drowsiness. When I considered that unique phenomenon as a part of stress, I became able to judge rationally.

In other words, there are two approaches to handling stress:

  • Trying to do things the same way as usual
  • Applying rationality to unusual elements

If we want to change, try the latter—include the unusual sign you feel. That might allow you to identify the true cause, relax, and judge rationally.

The sources of stress are often fewer than we think. If we are rational, we will be able to decide many issues quickly.

Conclusion

Anyway, I will rest today.

Let’s take a break occasionally.
