A Fresh Start From Scratch: Why We Can Do It With a Peaceful Mind

Recently, I have become more willing to try new things lightly. These days, I am sewing winter face masks while taking a short break from making bags. I am proceeding gradually without rushing to conclusions.

That made me think about the changes in my mindset. Let’s talk about it.

How to restart from scratch

Sometimes, we want to start from scratch, regardless of life level or production level. Confusion between superficial worries and fundamental wants hinders our efficient improvement.

In other words, we can live hopefully if our fundamental wants are met, even if many superficial things are lacking.

That is why we want to let go of trivial obsessions. One typical superficial thing for empathic and logical people is social positions.

However, we sometimes find it difficult to let go of it. Fear makes us hesitate.

One solution is focusing on improving rather than maintaining. That might allow you to give up ineffective activities. Today, I will explain that mindset.

A way of life for empathetic and logical people

If we understand we can improve, we will stop clinging to our current state. That allows us to let go of social positions and businesses with no room for improvement.

For empathetic and logical individuals like us, the hope for a better future and the growth potential bring us happiness, rather than social evaluations or staying in ideal conditions. Although we have multiple aspects, we have such a tendency.

Empathy makes us prioritize the future state over the current condition. On the other hand, logical sense makes us enjoy the process of creation rather than holding the product.

That tells us our ideal state of showing our talents. We create and improve our lives. When there is nothing left to improve and we lose interest in it, we let it go or sell it. Then, we start to create something from scratch in a different field.

Two kinds of status

In other words, we have to reconsider what status is. There are two kinds of status, as follows:

  • Consider the acquired social position as a status. This is the common understanding of the majority. The title matters. It doesn’t matter whether we are showing our talent or not.
  • Consider a state in which we are demonstrating our talents as a status. This is a way of judgment for logical people. The title doesn’t matter. How a person lives and what he does matter.

Rationally speaking, if we are creative and cannot show our talents, there is no point in staying in the same place. If someone else can do it, we can leave it to him.

Social position has nothing to do with the value of creativity. For example, there is no point in comparing the more affordable dishes we came up with during our poor times and the more delicious ones we make now that we are rich. It is incomparable between inventions from many years ago and those of today. The premises are different. Creativity cannot be compared.

Although the majority will not recognize us, logical people will trust and respect us. That awareness allows us to let go of past glory and start a new life from scratch.

Conclusion

That is the mindset that allows us to start from scratch.

If we understand we can improve, we will stop clinging to our current state.

That allows us to let go of social positions and businesses with no room for improvement.

That might make your life more joyful.
