Going Out to Buy Grapes and Talking Freely

Today, I suddenly had to go out to buy grapes on a neighboring island, since my parents needed them for a gift. I just got home, and since I am exhausted, let’s briefly talk about where I went today.

Suo-oshima, where I went to buy grapes

Suo-oshima is a large island adjacent to my city. It is a leisure island connected with a large bridge, which is also famous for fruit farming. From autumn to spring, they sell various citrus. In summer, they harvest grapes and watermelons.

During this season, several farmers sell their produce directly on the weekends, so we can buy fresh fruits affordably. It is about half the price of grocery stores, even for high-quality fruits suitable for gifts.

Since the fruits for gifts tend to be expensive, being able to buy them at half price has a significant impact. That is why many people around this area rush to that island to buy them.

This island is beautiful and peaceful. It is one of the ideal places where I want to live.

People who buy expensive fruits happily

When I arrived at the farmer’s sales shed, many people were already lined up.

There were many grapes and watermelons.

Since it is a small shop run by several farmers, the store is just a corner of one farmer’s warehouse. There is practically no comfortable service. There is no air conditioning in the warehouse. There is no fancy shelf. The checkout is slow.

However, many customers bought happily. This is because it is fresh and so affordable compared to grocery stores. Everyone bought in large quantities. Even expensive fruits were selling like hotcakes. I could not believe that one person would spend so much money on fruit, even for gifts.

That impressed me. Consumption is not only for oneself. Expensive and high-quality items sell well as gifts. Considering our products as gifts or souvenirs can be one approach.

By the way, I also heard that several souvenir shops in this area are seeking creators who provide clothes and bags. Such information motivated me.

Conclusion

Anyway, it was an impressive experience.

Although I often focused on my inner world, learning about the logic of the outside world is also fun.
