How to Notice and Correct Mental Imbalances

Recently, I have finally figured out what I want in life thanks to the concept of a pendulum life. It taught me that I had wished for a life in which my environment wouldn’t interfere with my desires. Becoming a millionaire didn’t matter; it was only one way to make it happen.

Today, I will introduce how to notice and correct our mental imbalances with this concept.

How to have peace of mind

Sometimes, we want peace of mind, especially when we are impatient to achieve our goals. Despite doing our best, we sometimes get frustrated when things don’t work.

One iconic situation is getting caught at a traffic light. Although we are trying to do things in the shortest possible time and don’t want to waste our time, we are stuck in our tracks. That frustrates us and makes us want a peaceful mind.

There could be other events that break our mental balance. For example, we might go to a grocery store but find what we want to buy is out of stock. We might make a simple mistake and waste precious time dealing with it. We might feel that frustrating events only happen when we don’t want them. That breaks our mental balance.

However, we sometimes don’t know how to correct mental imbalances like this.

Today, I will introduce a way to balance our minds. We can understand that such impatience is a signal to switch to another contradictory side of our wants. This awareness might allow you to balance your mind and break the stagnation.

What does getting frustrated mean?

When we get frustrated when things don’t work, try switching to another contradictory side of your wants. This might correct your mental imbalances and break the stagnation.

The concept of a pendulum life I recently often mentioned would make it easier to understand the reason.

It is a concept that we have at least two contradictory desires and want to satisfy both.

For example, we sometimes want to be energetic but sometimes want to relax. We sometimes wish to change the outside world but sometimes focus on our inside world. We cannot do them simultaneously because they are contradictory. Despite this, we need both to progress our lives.

We are improving our lives while swinging such conflicting desires, like a pendulum. This gives us a comfortable and creative progression.

The time to switch to another side of our wants

This tells us that getting frustrated is the time to switch to another contradictory side of our wants. In other words, the inner pendulum points to the desire on the other side.

Following the pendulum would be better if we want to realize independence. This is because it prevents stagnation.

Deep in our hearts, we know stagnation has already begun when we get frustrated easily. If we are on track, we are hopeful, not being irritated. This is why we are frustrated by such small events, like getting caught at a traffic light, even though we don’t usually care about it.

Sticking to the same side is usually pointless because the approach has already reached its limits. For example, if we cannot change the outside world anymore, it means it is time to change something inside us. That is a creative way. Creativity is a way to find another effective approach to solving the problem.

If we continue on the same side, we can do nothing new and will only suffer until the environment changes. We can change neither outside nor inside. This causes stagnation that suffers us the most.

That is why we have to switch to another side of our wants when frustrated.

Words to say to ourselves

To switch our states naturally, try telling yourself words that encourage you to the other side, such as, “This would mean I have to take a break.”

When we get frustrated, we are usually trying to change outside. It is active, energetic, physical, believing in ourselves, and logical.

It means we need to stop chasing them and switch to the other side, such as taking a rest, looking inside, calming down, doubting ourselves, or waiting.

There would be various similar words, as follows:

“Maybe now is the time not to try hard.”

“It seems it is time to switch my approach.”

“This would be time to wait. Calm down. Relax.”

“Sometimes energetically, but sometimes cleverly.”

These words would allow us to correct our mental imbalance and differences between reality and assumptions. In other words, we can get suitable ideas based on our current situations to break through stagnation.

Conclusion

When things don’t work and frustrate you, try switching to another contradictory side of your wants.

It indicates that stagnation has already begun. Switching to another side gives us appropriate ideas for breaking through the stagnation.

This might correct your mental imbalances and break the stagnation.
