In recent articles, I have talked about how to show our talents. Today, I will explain the relationship between our goals and talents.
Where to show our talents
Sometimes, we want to show our talents and live energetically. Using all our potential fulfills us.
However, we sometimes don’t know a place to contribute, especially when we have unique individualities. We might not be good at working as employees or socializing, but we don’t know where to use these innate qualities. That makes us depressed and stagnant.
In such a case, the following concept might help us: a goal differs from a place where we show our talents. This awareness might allow us to find a place to use our natures and contribute.
Distinguishing a goal from a place to show our talents
A goal is different from a place where we show our talents. In other words, if we want to use our natures, try entering the area opposite the goal.
Perhaps an example makes it easier to understand, so let me explain my case.
I like clean rooms. I am a minimalist and prefer the simplicity.
If I see a messy room, I soon want to clean it up. I love to clean up. It allows me to empty my mind and focus on one thing. In addition, the process of cleaning up is fun because I can feel a sense of accomplishment as I proceed. It is rewarding.
Which to belong?
In this case, if I try to acquire a tidy room from the beginning, we can presume I will not be able to show my talent. This is because cleaning up is one of my talents.
Although my goal is to have a clean room, a place where I can show my talent is a messy room. It is the opposite. In other words, I need a cluttered room to live energetically.
This is one reason for not being able to find a place to contribute. We sometimes try to acquire a goal directly instead of a place where we can use our talents.
How to find a place to use our individuality
To find a place to use our individuality, try finding an area with the opposite properties to the goal that is the same as the majority.
For example, assume we prefer independence to being dependent on society. Favoring independence is one of the individualities.
In this case, we first think about what the goal we share in common with the majority is. In other words, we think about what kind of place the successful people for our goals gather.
Our goal may be to contribute to society by our products as much as possible. The place may be a society that is simple, efficient, and well-organized.
Then, we consider where the opposite area is. Perhaps it is a place that is confused, inefficient, and less organized in terms of our goals.
Heading to such a place is an opportunity to show our individuality.
The concept of the sun and the moon
I like to think of this as the concept of the sun and the moon.
The sun is a place that has achieved that goal. It is a symbol of success. Everyone longs to belong to the sun, like a clean room.
On the other hand, the moon is a place of confusion. It is a symbol of darkness. Everyone doesn’t want to be in such a place, like a messy room.
In this case, we think we are a god of the moon. We dare to go to the confused place and illuminate it there. Although it is not as bright as the sun, it gives people a glimmer of light and hope.
Perhaps showing individuality is like the moon. Although it doesn’t have the same influence as society, it gives hope.
This concept has changed my way of thinking. I used to think moving to Kitsuki City, Oita Prefecture, was not ideal. However, I changed my mind. Oita Prefecture is a place of chaos. Kitsuki City is a city where its policies have failed. There are so many chaotic resources. It could be a place to show my individuality.
Conclusion
That is why distinguishing a goal from a place where we show our talents tells us where to contribute.
If we want to use our talents, try entering the area that is opposite the goal.
This awareness might allow us to find a place to use our natures and contribute.
