Finding Unexpected Fun: Cycling Is Fun in This Area

It has been exactly one month since I moved here to Kitsuki City, Oita Prefecture, Japan. Today, I will talk about my new unexpected fun.

How to find new fun

Sometimes, we want new fun. It takes us to a new stage.

There are many interesting factors, such as learning new concepts, being creative, and trying things out.

Even failure makes us enjoy. Perhaps this is because we know we are growing ourselves. In other words, we don’t care about failure when we grow.

However, we sometimes cannot have new fun due to fear or low energy. Putting ourselves in a new situation often requires mental and physical energy.

In such a case, knowing other people’s new experiences or adventures could encourage us.

Today, I will introduce my experience of finding unexpected fun: cycling. This might give you energy.

My new fun: Cycling

I thought I loved walking and cycling. Even where I lived before, biking and walking were my daily hobbies.

However, after relocating here, I understood this was not accurate. I liked only walking, and biking was just a way to move to a good walking road.

This area taught me that. I enjoyed riding my bicycle in this area, even if I didn’t have a certain destination. I recently like to bike while deciding the direction based on my intuition at every time.

Perhaps this is because there are almost no traffic lights and fewer ups and downs. When exercising, keeping our own pace would be the most comfortable factor. That is why riding a bicycle without stopping or slowing down is comfort.

In the previous place, going without stopping was impossible. However, I can do it here. That made me love cycling.

This area might be a paradise for cycling. There is a nicely paved road and few traffic signals! Of course, it is also great for walking.

Beginning an adventure with a little unsettling

Finding new fun may be a repetition of a small adventure. Although it is a little unsettling, we are curious about the way and would like to try it.

If we want a new fun or stage, noticing such a little unsettling thing would be a way.

It could be not only beginning something new but also letting something go.

In my case, I wanted to dispose of one cookware: a skillet. Now I only eat soups for my liver health and have not used my skillet for over one year. It was already rusty. However, I hesitated because I had only two cookware: a pot and a skillet. That made me unsettled.

However, I noticed this was a new adventure. The reward was a new stage. The sacrifice was the cost of the skillet. It felt more like a benefit, so I decided to dispose of it.

Our lives might be a sequence of such small decisions. Although it is a small step, it leads to a big adventure.

Conclusion

That was my experience of finding unexpected fun: cycling.

This might give you the energy to step into a new stage.
