Cyclical Creativity: How to Be Fundamentally Creative

Recently, I realized that creativity doesn’t always take a specific form. It is influenced by popular trends. It means that creativity can be cyclical.

That made me consider what kind of creation is suitable for now. Let’s talk about it.

How to be more creative?

Sometimes, we want to be more creative. It improves our lives. In other words, feeling stagnation means not being creative.

However, we sometimes don’t know what creativity means. We may consider it as crafting something new, doing things differently, and making the most of our experiences.

Although they look correct, they are not universal. I recently realized that we can be creative even without doing things differently from others.

For example, we can identify fields that are easier to make profits from and enter them. That often makes it easier to build abundance than to continue struggling in a highly competitive industry. Belonging to innovative fields doesn’t always mean being creative.

That is why we want to know how to be more creative.

One solution is to consider creativity as cyclical. This concept tells us what style is more efficient for empathic and logical people now. Today, I will explain the logic.

Cyclical creativity

We can consider creativity as cyclical. This concept shows us fundamental creativity: being strategic sometimes becomes more creative than making something new.

Creativity has no specific form. It takes contradictory forms depending on the situation. We need to measure it based on the efficiency of our life satisfaction. If traditional methods make our lives more efficient, choosing them can be more creative. Applying innovative things doesn’t always mean being creative.

To make it easier to understand, let’s look at an example of selling our products.

If we are empathic and logical, we need to identify fields where we don’t have to compete with large companies. We prefer freedom while keeping a distance from society. In other words, we want to make money as individually as possible. It is a fundamental desire for empathic and logical people.

It means that our way of working changes depending on the social state. There is a cycle in which we become creative, as follows:

  • Being creative in building worldwide connections: During an economic boom, both transportation costs and information costs will decrease in the future. That makes having broader information and mass connections advantageous. The expansion strategy becomes more effective. Since overall demand increases in this period, it is more effective to base our activities on what we want to do. We prioritize innovation over learning old ways.
  • Being creative in building local connections: During a recession, transportation costs and information costs will increase. That makes securing faithful individual information sources and local connections advantageous. The strategy that focuses locally becomes more effective. Since specific supplies rapidly decrease in each area, it is more effective to base our activities on what society lacks. We prioritize learning and following old ways, and then we apply innovation.

Focusing on local connections

In my opinion, we are currently at the early stages of the latter—the period of prioritizing local connections.

Now, everyone is still trying to make wealth on the internet. Many large companies have already entered the online market, making it difficult for us as individuals to compete.

On the other hand, local traditional industries have become easier for individuals to make a profit.

When connecting with locals to make a profit, applying innovation is not particularly important. Rather, it is more efficient to identify fields with labor shortages and master essential skills in the short term.

In other words, being strategic becomes more influential than listening to our inner voices. We have to understand that focusing on the inner world isn’t always effective. We have to switch them according to the situation, in either the short term or the long term.

Now is the time to be strategic from a long-term perspective. Understanding that sometimes enables us to generate profits with ease, even as individuals. It is rewarding. That fulfills our inner wants, even if we don’t try to be spiritual.

My case

In my case, I was able to start making a profit from sewing bags in just 4 or 5 months. I have not added anything innovative. I strategically chose the area with a manpower shortage.

The key decisions were the following:

  • I learned that my parents were sewing to make extra income. I judged that learning sewing from them was rational if I started something new.
  • I learned that seamstresses in this area preferred to sew clothes, and no one wanted to make bags. They were pushing the bag-making task onto each other. In other words, there was no individual bag creator in this area. I judged sewing bags to be more efficient.
  • I learned that remodeled bags sell better than regular ones in bag making. It was correct. That made me decide to focus on remodeled bags.

That brought me a profit. I still didn’t apply much creativity to sewing. In other words, I judged that being strategic would fulfill me efficiently in my circumstances.

That also filled my wants. I can enjoy intellectual activity, avoid competing with big companies, make profits, apply my sensibility, reduce social interactions, and express my nature of loving frugality. It was rewarding.

I realized that being strategic would work at this time.

Conclusion

That is how to be more creative.

We can consider creativity as cyclical.

That may show you what style is more efficient in the long term.
