Two days ago, I finished sewing my latest bag. Let’s introduce it.
About the 7th bag
I had a problem when walking and cycling. They are my daily hobbies. I wanted to enjoy them as lightly as possible, but a water bottle is essential during hot summer walks. Although I used to put a small water bottle in the back pocket of my pants, it was bulky and uncomfortable.
In other words, I wanted to enjoy my hobbies more deeply.
That drove me to create this bag.
My 7th bag is a remodeled short-height handbag, as shown in the following picture. It is made from a used pair of jeans.
Its width is 21 cm. It fits to hold a smartphone, a small water bottle, and several miscellaneous items.
Various convenient points
This bag is my solution to that problem. There are many convenient points.
For example, the shoulder strap frees our hands. It is useful when using both hands, such as when biking. That is why cyclists often use backpacks and shoulder bags. Shoulder bags make it easier to take out items while sacrificing their capacity and stability compared to backpacks. On the other hand, backpacks are ideal for long-distance travel, although they can be less convenient for quickly accessing items.
In other words, this bag makes it easy to frequently take items in and out while moving.
A lower height
A lower height allows us to pick things out more easily.
The size of the items we put in determines the height of a bag. For example, when we put a small amount of a large item, a taller bag is easier to sort and take out. On the other hand, when we put various small items in, a shorter bag makes it easy to place and pick up. It takes effort to identify something buried deeply among other things.
That is why a handbag usually has a short height and a wider bottom. That makes it easier to put small items.
A zipper
I also added a zipper instead of a snap fastener. It prevents the items from coming out, even if we engage in active activities. It is helpful for cycling.
Since it hides the contents from others, it protects privacy. In my case, it allows me to gather edible wild plants without worrying.
Decorations
By the way, this bag has several decorations, such as the belt loops stitched horizontally at the bottom, as shown in the following picture.
It is to hide the damage on the fabric. Since I used a pair of used jeans, they had several damages. That is why it has strange decorations.
A remodeling bag made from jeans is suitable for casual use, such as sports, camping, and exercise.
Management tools, like this bag, help us solve our problems. This bag is my current solution to my problem of walking.
Conclusion
Anyway, I finally finished my 7th bag. I am satisfied with this work. I will use it starting today’s walk.
I plan to create items for sale from the next product.
