Since I have explained rationality and want a short break, let’s talk about another topic. Today, I will introduce my sewing activity as a hobby.
Why I started sewing
Last month, I started to live at my parents’ house. After my graduation from university, I had been distant from them for a long time, but I have changed a lot in the past few months. That allowed me to live with them.
Unexpectedly, they were making profits by sewing. They created various fabric items, such as clothes, bags, and accessories. In addition, they had more materials than they could handle.
The next photo is of one room of my parents’ house. There are about 3 to 4 times more fabrics scattered around. It is chaotic!
I realized that it was an excellent sewing environment. Since I started living rationally and calmly, I decided to try sewing as a relaxing hobby.
Although it didn’t make me enthusiastic, I knew I liked activities that used my fingertips. I wanted to see if I could enjoy it for a long time by keeping my activity level moderate without overdoing it.
Creating a simple bag
I decided to make a small, simple bag as a tutorial.
At first, I secured the fabric for the material. My parents handed me an old pair of jeans and told me, “Let’s untie the threads of the jeans and make a bag out of the fabric. You can utilize the pocket part.”
I was surprised by the idea of using jeans as a material for a bag, but it interested me. Relaxation allowed me to enjoy strange ideas and things.
Then, I started making it under their guidance.
I learned how to use a sewing machine in elementary school class, but since it was long ago, I was unsure if I could use it. However, I remembered it well. I was interested in the sewing machine in elementary school, and it seems that experience impressed me.
The next photo is of the sewing machine I use.
There are four sewing machines in this house. It is one of them.
I realized that if you want to enjoy sewing, a sewing machine would be essential. It dramatically reduces the pain of sewing. Hand sewing was too painful for me.
Although it is not finished yet, I am making progress gradually.
Sewing is interesting. Through this process, I realized some mental changes about our interests that I had never experienced before. I will talk about them at some point.
Conclusion
That is my recent sewing activity. I am now making a simple bag as a tutorial.
Although I don’t have any particular goal, I am enjoying its development.
